Each leaf is cleaned separately with fresh water to eliminate the dirt particles. The cleaning process takes a few hours and is performed with complete attention to detail.
Drying The Leaves
Just like the cleaning process, the drying process is also well supervised. All the leaves are spread over clean sheets inside the enormous rooms. We do not dry outdoors in the open sun since sunlight interacts with the alkaloid, making it hard to preserve the alkaloid profile. The leaves are dried for 3-5 days, depending on how long they take to get dried completely.
